Barn Raising Event

During the 19th Century, communities would come together for what was known as barn raising. Families would need to rebuild or build from scratch barns that held not only livestock, but grains and other food sources. These barn raising consisted of families and friends from the community who would spend a day or two together constructing the barn knowing one day the community would return the favor. The women and young girls would bring baked goods and water to serve the men throughout the day. The older boys would gather tools while the younger children would watch.

Offutt Collision Repair volunteers and donates to our Bellevue and surrounding community. We as a company feel we exist because of our community. We understand that participating in events such as National Night Out we are appreciated by the kids as we hand them free hot dogs our team grilled, but also the parents who many times jokingly say, “I hope I don’t see you soon!”

It is because of these community events we participate in our families we have served in our Collision shop are able to thank us for not only the appreciation of the cars we have worked on…but also the fact they feel happy to see we are handing out candy for kids on Halloween at the Boo Bash at our local high school or the Halloween Extravaganza on Offutt AFB.

Someof you may know the history of Barn Raising. As a member of the community you are expected to participate! However, our employees are not expected to participate in the community, they actually volunteer because they want to. One favorite event is the Chili Cook off event that the Bellevue Police department hosts every year. Money is raised for the Shop with a cop program. This program provides funds so that the cops can take children shopping for the holidays. Offutt Collision Repair begins early and holds a chili contest amongst our employees. The employees volunteer to cook their favorite chili recipe and we then invite the community in to vote on their favorite. Whoever wins will then go on to the Chili Cook off and not only cook the chili but participate and serve the community. Our employees who win take great pride in serving the community, not because their chili won, but because they realize how much the community appreciates everything Offutt Collision Repair does.

Offutt Collision Repair also volunteers time with local non-profits. Our marketing director Karissa Williams sits on the Habitat for Humanity Board. OCR sponsors many events for Offutt AFB, one favorite is the Father Daughter Dance and Super Saturday. George Rybar CEO of OCRvolunteers his time on the Offutt Advisory Board and the Bellevue Chamber Board of Directors.

Offutt Collision Repair will continue to support the public, not because we have to, but because it is the right thing to do. We know the families we serve are the reason we have grown to where we are at today. Without our amazing community we would not exist. Our surrounding neighbors have shown us the love they have for locally owned businesses. And nothing makes us more proud then when our customers come up to us while we are serving our community and thank us. We Thank You!

I’m a military wife and mom of 3 boys. I’ve been with OCR for 2 years now, and I absolutely love it! I love how Offutt Collision is so involved in the community and with the military. I couldn’t imagine my life without OCR in it! Chad is an amazing owner who leads from the front, and truly cares about his customers. I know this is what makes us so special!
